Hi..today after doing sit ups when I bend down to pick up a dumb-bell, I suddenly felt a lower back pain..I am afraid now on the outcome. If you please guide me? I have applied a gel and it's a bit better.

Hi Tucker - thanks for the question - It's a GOOD one...

That pain is like a warning signal. Lots of people experience it but "keep going" anyway... And eventually bad stuff happens. I know because I've been there.

I don't do the typical "gym routines" anymore - Everything I do is focused on bodyweight training - and I add some other things to that.

Pay attention to your body - start adjusting how you train so you can keep it all going for the long haul.

Hi,

I am relatively young male, and work out 3-4 times a week. I am 6'7" and am in somewhat good shape. I use free weights and run when I work out. After using free weights, I get some pain in my mid to lower back. I believe it is mostly related to exercises when I am lifting weights over my head. This pain does not immobilize me in any way, but does cause discomfort for hours afterward. I admit when I push that last rep or two, my technique is not quite as good, arching my back to get that last rep. Should I be concerned by this? Would using a chair instead of standing when working out help? I saw you gave pretty good advice to others, so thought I would throw that out there. Article is great, and plan on taking your advice. Thank you!

Drinking alot of water inplace of coffee and tea will relieve some of your pain within 2 weeks. Now that flavored water is available should be no problem drinking nearly half your body weight in water each day. Helps the Pain.

Hi,
I just want to say it was a great article. I am learning so much through this website and the book, "The 7-Day Back Pain Cure." I am a very active senior citizen who walks and lifts weights (2,3, and 5 pounds, depending on the exercise). I want to learn to do more stretching for flexibility as I know it is very important. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis about three years ago and take all the natural supplements, but no bisphosphenates (sp). I broke two vertebrae in my back and my hip about three years ago, but everything has healed beautifully according to my only MRI. I do have back pain, mostly if I wear too tight clothing around the waist, become too fatigued, or in the evening after a long day of work. It is mostly centered around the mid-back. It can be very aggravating. I have tried many things, but nothing has worked so far. I am sending for Heal N Soothe tomorrow and hope it helps. I also intend to look into muscle inbalances. I also need to lose about fifteen pounds + and carry most of my weight in my abdomen which I think is seriously aggravating my problem.

Sorry, I guess this was not the place to write all of this. I just feel some hope after not feeling any regarding this problem for a long time. Thanks for being there and offering help to others who suffer with the same problem. Back pain can take so much joy out of life so I am looking forward to finding ways to heal my back. I knew there was a way and now I think I've found it.
